If you go to a baby shower or wedding shower, you are going to being playing shower games at some point in the day. I always groan when I think about shower games, but I always end up having fun once they begin. There are some many different ones from which to choose, and no one says you can’t make up your own if you are hosting shower. Shower games don’t have to be too complicated, and if you use your imagination, you can come up with a winner.

The trick to making up good shower games is by keeping your event and the person of honor in mind. Think of everything they like, and a lot about how they see the world. A game involving recipes won’t go over well for someone who doesn’t like to cook, but at the same time, it may provide a lot of amusement for the guests. You know the guest of honor best, so think of what they like to do, and where their interest lie when making up shower games.

For a bridal shower, the theme should revolve around weddings, of course. There are many shower games for brides-to-be out there, but sometimes these are a bit out of date. You can take an old game, and give it a modern twist. There is one game that gives a prize to the woman with the heaviest purse. Instead, perhaps give a prize to whoever has the most contacts in their cell phone, or to the guest who can guess the most items in the bride’s purse.

When trying to come up with baby shower games, you can to just about anything that has to do with babies and children, but sometimes, you can make part of it just about the mom. You could give a prize out to who can correctly name the most children’s shows. This is especially entertaining if most of the guests don’t have children yet. You can make up shower games about baby names, or see who can come up with the funniest way for the mom-to-be to find time for herself once the baby is born.

Some shower games seem simple, and you might think they won’t go over well. Don’t discount the missing element. When good friends get together, they can make anything fun. You might be surprised at how well your shower games go over, as long as you keep the personality of the guest of honor and your guests in mind.
